DESCRIPTION

In this course students will acquire the skills to come to an exegesis of a New Testament passage. The learning goals are: making a translation of a Greek pericope, analyzing the text of that pericope on the basis of the available manuscripts, searching for meaning through word-study and studying parallel passages, and finally consulting scholarly commentaries. The passage chosen for this course is Mark 9:2-13. We will subsequently make a translation of the passage, analyse its text critical status, study dictionaries and lexicons with regard to a number of selected words, study parallel texts, and consult commentaries.
