DESCRIPTION

Machine Learning is the study of how to build computer systems that learn from experience. It is a very active subfield of Artificial Intelligence that intersects with statistics, cognitive science, information theory, and probability theory. Recently, Machine Learning has gained great importance for the design of search engines, robots, and sensor systems, and for the processing of large scientific data sets. Further applications include handwriting or speech recognition, image classification, medical diagnosis, stock market analysis, bioinformatics, etc.

Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) awards credits based on the ECTS system. Contact hours listed under a course description may vary due to the combination of lecture-based and independent work required for each course therefore, CEA's recommended credits are based on the ECTS credits assigned by VU Amsterdam. 1 ECTS equals 28 contact hours assigned by VU Amsterdam.
