DESCRIPTION
The course will be structured in three thematic modules. In each of these modules an AI technique will be introduced, and then applied in the medical field. Both the AI-technique and a medical topic have to be studied in a practical, hands on, way.
In a nutshell, we plan to cover the topics:
- medical ontologies (eg. SNOMED, MESH, UMLS, ICD10)
- indicators for medical care (cost and quality of care)
- modelling of clinical guidelines
Beside these three modules there are a couple of guest lectures, for instance on natural language processing for medical texts, machine learning for finding predictors of diseases based on patient data.
