DESCRIPTION

The Television course provides students general knowledge about the design of a TV system as well as the specifics of digital television systems covering all the processing steps from the generation of the signal in origin to signal reproduction for broadcasting purposes. To this aim, basic and characteristic parameters of a television system are discussed, as well as the signal processing chain and the broadcasting media commonly employed. In addition, current digital television standards of generation, compression, distribution, and broadcasting of the signal are presented and several technological aspects supporting them are analysed. This course is also the starting point for the rest of subjects that deal with image processing and transmission.

Course will consist of 60 hrs of in class work and 90 hrs of independent work outside the classroom.

Course includes a lab component.
