DESCRIPTION
This course is an introduction to drama as literature and to performative dimensions of drama. It is aimed at giving an overview of the evolution of western drama throughout the centuries from the time of the early Greek dramatists to the present. Students will read, discuss, and analyze plays from a variety of periods and national traditions in order to become familiar with the major styles, techniques, and conventions that characterize dramatic literature. Various acting methods will be explored along with voice, movement, and improvisational skills.
