DESCRIPTION

The course will deal with the political institutions of the biggest Western European countries since 1945. Postwar institutional solutions, however, will be studied from a longer-term perspective: as answers to questions that political modernity has begun asking at least since the end of the Eighteenth century, and as an evolution of, or reaction to, solutions that have been tried in the Nineteenth and the first half of the Twentieth century.
