DESCRIPTION
Specifically designed for medical students and health professionals, this course aims to improve physician-patient interactions with Spanish-speaking patients. This course will lean on the activities students do at the hospital and thus, the clinical rotation will count as 15 contact hours of the Spanish course, recognizing that experience as a "natural approach to language". The course will focus on the grammatical structures, relevant vocabulary, and cultural competency topics needed in a medical interview and physical exam. Candidates should already possess a high intermediate level or above of Spanish proficiency.
This course contains 45 contact hours in the classroom and 15 hours in a medical rotation.
The University of Belgrano utilizes a 45-minute contact hour whereas the United States higher education system utilizes a 50-minute contact hour. All University of Belgrano courses represent the 45 contact hour amount and an estimated US credit calculation based on the contact hours. Each University of Belgrano transcript will include the number of hours per week and the weeks in the semester, so US universities may calculate the appropriate number of US credits for students.
