DESCRIPTION
Scientific advances recently introduced in eye correction techniques require the introduction of new concepts and techniques for the study of ocular surfaces and retinal image quality. The lectures will cover the following contents: measurement and and analysis of the wavefront, theory and practical use of image quality measuring instruments and data and image processing in order to obtain relevant optical parameters and objective criteria describing the optical performance of the human eye. After completing the course the student will be prepared to use experimental systems for measuring ocular aberrations, ocular biometry, understand optical properties of the cornea and the crystalline lens as well as to simulate the retinal image and calculate image quality metrics.
Course will consist of 60hrs of in class work and 90 hrs of independent work outside the classroom.
Course includes a lab component.
