DESCRIPTION

This module engages students in the study of the politics of environmental sustainability and climate change, enabling them to explore rival conceptualisations and theorisations, including green theory, Marxism and neoliberalism. Adopting a local-to-the-global perspective, the module draws upon a range of social sciences, including politics and international relations, to explore environmental policies and activism at local, national and global levels. Via an exploration of LSBU?s own sustainability agenda and initiatives the module encourages active student engagement and reflection upon the powers, and limits, of social agency. The internet-based focus of one of the assessments is an important innovation in the module.
