DESCRIPTION

British theatre has produced some of the most successful writers for stage, screen, TV and radio. Writing for Performance builds on the skills learned in Writing for Stage and Screen and Radio Drama, with an emphasis on writing for stage. Students develop an original idea through to a completed short (30 minute) play. Through reading and watching plays (including a class visit to the theatre), reading about theory and a visit from a professional playwright, the students learn to watch theatre critically and develop their own creative practice. The course is practice-based, including writing exercises in every class, as well as writing workshops where students can support each other in script development.
