DESCRIPTION

This Module explores the basic skills that all scientists need. The largest component of the Module is the laboratory work (50% , which gives practical experience in microscopy, microbiology and chemistry. The Computing workshops (30% deal with the use of e-mail and the Internet, word processing and spreadsheet software packages. The final element is study skills (20% . Employers have long complained that many students graduating from British universities lack basic skills in reading, writing, information technology and problem-solving skills. Universities complain that students entering higher education are ill-equipped with the skills required for successful study. This module aims to ensure you have those skills.
