DESCRIPTION

Students in this course will focus on improving oral fluency and written composition. Includes an in-depth study of the French language through tenses, moods, syntax and use of language types (informal, colloquial, refined). It also stresses structural exercises in vocabulary, grammar, composition and textual analysis. The class will evaluate various current events in order to have a better understanding of France. This course consists of two required components - language (cours pratiques) and phonetics. While these components are listed separately on the student's transcript, students must pass both the language and phonetics components to receive credit for the course. The language component meets for an average of 10 hours per week, 120 hours total. The phonetics component meets for a total of 25 hours, the hours per week varies. The two components together equal 145 hours.
