This course is a reanalysis of Roman and local identities within the interconnected Mediterranean system with special focus on the use of and responses to Etruscan and Greek art and architecture. It specifically examines how the Roman elite framed novel artistic and architectural options in moral and hierarchical terms). Site visits in Provence are part of this course.
