In today's art world, curators play a pivotal role among artists, galleries and museums. Seen from the outside, however, their function remains unclear and often misunderstood. Based on concrete historical and contemporary cases, this course aims to provide the students with a deep understanding of what curating actually means through the profession?s many branches of research, exhibitions, communication, publication etc. This class will also provide the students with important insights into the role that curation plays between art institutions and the global art market.
