DESCRIPTION

In an increasingly interconnected world, Arabic is both one of the most widely spoken languages and one of the least studied among professionals, scholars, and businesspeople. This course offers students the flexibility to enroll in either a 4-credit version representing Arabic 101 or a 4-credit version representing Arabic 102. The program allows for a more flexible and self-paced learning experience, incorporating a combination of one-on-one and small group sessions. These sessions will be complemented by selfpaced work under the instructor's guidance, which may include both online and in-person components. Seventy-five percent of the instruction will be in combined levels 101 and 102, while twenty-five percent will be tailored specifically to either the 101 (true beginner level) or the 102 (second semester) level. Learning Arabic in the South of France provides a unique advantage, especially in navigating the evolving business landscape of the Arabian Gulf, understanding migration dynamics between the Global South and Europe, and addressing complex geopolitical issues in the Eastern Mediterranean. By the end of this course, students will develop a strong foundation in Modern Standard Arabic, enabling effective communication with Arabic speakers and providing a pathway to advance to an intermediate level.
