DESCRIPTION

A free media is vital to a free society. In this course we will examine what freedom of the press means and how restrictions placed on the press serve as a detriment to a free and functioning society. We will also look into how media can influence political dialogue and how the changing face of 21st century media can take away from or add to that. We will analyze news coverage and look at the role the news media play in the political systems of modern societies. We will also look at the implications of globalization on the delivery and consumption of news.
