DESCRIPTION

Students will gain a basic understanding of the contemporary discourse around art and critical environmental issues of our day. How are artists looking at climate change, increasing plastic pollution, rising sea levels, pesticides and sustainable agricultural practices and other important social issues of our time? We will examine how the form of art itself is changing, looking briefly at the historical precedents leading up to this time, and exploring current ways and means of expression. There will be two studio projects during the course, to supplement the lectures and discussions.
