DESCRIPTION

The professional of the future knows how to look for, process and analyze information from various sources, with the purpose of identifying, pose and solve problems. The qualitative investigation course gives students an opportunity to familiarize with the methods and techniques of qualitative research. We discuss ways of thinking and specific practices associated with collaborative research approaches and study the paradigms, its utility for understanding the implicit assumptions in any inquiry process, as well as the typical assumptions of qualitative research. In summary, the course aims to teach students to conceptualize and designing qualitative studies.
They will learn, for example, to design and implement instruments of observation, interviewing and focus groups. Besides, they will familiarize themselves with documentary methods. Students will learn to develop a collaborative research work to small-scale, which will allow them to demonstrate understanding of the theoretical traditions of qualitative research, the role of the researcher, ethics, preparation of the field work, the methods of collecting qualitative data, organization, analysis and interpretation of data and a written report of qualitative research.
