DESCRIPTION

Strategy is about how big-picture thinking can play a role in the success of organizations. It is about anticipating what is coming, and where the organization wants to go, to achieve some goal. This course covers basic approaches to organizational strategy, from concepts to implementation. It covers how to identify an organization's competitive position vis-a-vis related organizations, identify its main resources and capabilities, and develop and evaluate new strategy. Organizational strategy in the private sector is the focus but examples from public and non-profit organizations will also be covered. Attention will be given to differences in sustainability-oriented strategy in high-income countries vs low- and middle-income cones.
