DESCRIPTION
Conversation: This course will focus on teaching students how to converse in a pragmatic and appropriate manner in various real-life situations. The focus will include but is not limited to: talking about self, descriptive strategies, giving advice, defining and identifying, talking about the past, recognizing variations in accents, and hypothesizing. Grammar: The grammar component of the course will review vocabulary related to personal experience and characteristics. It will introduce vocabulary, terminology, and discursive elements for commenting on surveys, statistics, structures of identification, computers, introduction of connector words, change of articles, and connectors of oppositional phrases. The basic uses of ser and estar and the subjunctive will also be reviewed. Students will cover the sequence of tenses with the past tenses or conditional: me gustaría que + Imperfect subjunctive. Relative clauses, expressions of agreement and disagreement and general uses of the different past tenses will be reviewed. Students will also learn how to form a hypothesis.
