DESCRIPTION

Survey of the human element in communication with a focus on skills in self, assertion, listening, perception, and understanding relationships. The aim of this course is to explore and understand the fundamental principles of interpersonal communication theory, and to introduce students to the complex interaction of social and psychological forces operating in human communication. Students will be encouraged to analyse the intricacies of interpersonal relationships by critically evaluating concepts of the self, perception, language, listening, relationship development and conflict resolution, through an active, skills-based approach.
