Prerequisites: Preliminary recommended subjects: Acoustics, Signals and Systems, Communication Theory, Digital Signal Processing. It is also desirable, but not essential, to have completed: Analogue Electronics and Acoustic Transducers. DESCRIPTION

The course will provide students the assimilation of methods and strategies used for the digital processing of the audio signals. Using as a starting point the knowledge adquired in the recommended subjects, the processing of the audio signals will be detailed and studied in depth, including: analog to digital audio conversion, processing, sound effects, compression, spatial audio, etc.. This course serves as a foundation in varying degrees for other subsequent subjects such as: Advanced Audiovisual Systems, Digital Sound Synthesis, Digital Signal Processors and Audiovisual Production Centers.

Course will consist of 60hrs of in class work and 90 hrs of independent work outside the classroom.

Course includes a lab component.
