DESCRIPTION

The analysis of slangy and colloquial lexis from a synchronic and diachronic perspective, paying special attention to the way these lexical forms has an impact on the dimensions of linguistic variations. This subject is aimed at delving into the study of English slang and colloquial lexis, particularly the analysis of lexical and semantic morphology in youth language, as well as those socially marginal variants, deeply rooted in American and British Englishes.

Course will consist of 60 hrs of in class work and 90 hrs of independent work outside the classroom.
