DESCRIPTION

Through the study of Chemistry and Inorganic Chemistry II courses taught respectively in the second and third semesters of the degree in Chemistry, the student gets the fundamentals of the models used for the bonding of inorganic compounds. These theoretical concepts, together with the specific concepts which describe the properties of inorganic solids and are introduced in Inorganic Solids course, will be used to describe the bonding theories applicable to the study of inorganic solids and justify the properties (electrical, magnetic, optical) of inorganic solids (oxides, sulfides, hydrides, carbides, nitrides, fluorides, carbides). The properties of these solids give them a great industrial value so the preparative methods and the most important instrumental characterization techniques are described.

Course will consist of 60hrs of in class work and 90 hrs of independent work outside the classroom.

Course includes a lab component.
