DESCRIPTION

-The basic course Immunology discusses the innate and adaptive immune response. Both cellular and molecular interactions that play a fundamental role in the 'healthy' steady-state immune system will be discussed.
-The dysregulation of the immune responses that lead to diseases such as auto-immunity, cancer, chronic inflammatory diseases of the gut, allergy and infectious diseases will be discussed;

-Lectures, that include details on the immunological immune responses and research methods are highlighted. Also new applications that lead to new interventions based on todays research will be discussed (24 h.);
-Studygroups, for which assignments are made in advance using literature and the given lectures, take place in small groups with a high degree of individual interaction. A digital educational program is used in the classroom. The assignment and questions raised will be discussed together (appr. 4 h.) Working groups themes are : Antigen presentation/Vaccination and Antibodies
-Digital practical class, in which the structure of lymphoid organs and immunological and histological techniques are treated (appr. 2 h.);
-In two laboratory classes immunological techniques are studied and experimentally performed (8 h.): ELISA (4 h.) and Phagocytosis (4 h.)
-A poster presentation during which students make a poster and present-discus a poster, using literature. There a three themes to choose (4 h.)
