Prerequisites: To successfully pursue the course, the students must possess the following knowledge: -- Excellent knowledge of the Spanish language. High level of comprehension and oral and written expression. Most of audiovisual teaching lacks English subtitles. - Level of conceptualization and expression / writing for a college student level. - History and History of Art and literary movements of the twentieth century. Society, culture and politics in twentieth-century Spain. Especially academic level about history of Spain in the period between 1940 and 1992: dictatorship, transition and post-transition. - Techniques of visual image analysis (formal and narrative). - Domain methodology for developing academic papers. University level.

DESCRIPTION

- Film and TV in Spain: basic concepts, approaches and methodologies of analysis.
- Approach to the Film and TV in Spain: historical periods, social, cultural and aesthetic key elements.
- Film and TV canon. Authorship and popular cinema.
- Analysis of issues, problems and cases of film and television in Spain.

The syllabus, which develops in fifteen weekly sessions from theoretical and practical lessons, will focus on the period 1950-1990, in order to emphasize the discussion of the canon and the relationship of such film and television canon with the society and contemporary Spanish culture from a strictly academic perspective.
