DESCRIPTION

This module will introduce the fundamentals of programming and object orientation. This module will introduce the fundamentals of programming and object orientation, including the following basic ideas of programming: variables, memory and assignment statements, control through conditional statements, loops, functions and procedures, objects and classes, instance variables and methods arrays, user interaction, interaction between objects, inheritance, polymorphism.

The module will also present more specialist programming topics and applications. These may change from year to year. Some possibilities include: recursive structures, mobile platforms.

Students will be expected to implement a number of small pieces of software that demonstrate basic ideas of programming and will produce a substantial programme as an assessed modulework.
