DESCRIPTION
The National Health Service in the UK, employs nearly as many people in non-clinical roles as in clinical roles. Some of those people are managers, most are in support roles. Many clinicians are also managers. In private or personal insurance-based systems more people needed to decide on eligibility for care or to attract and retain investors.
The course analyses how managers influence the quantity and quality of healthcare and ultimately people?s health, examining how staff, wider stakeholders, physical resources, projects and policy are managed. Assessing the values, principles and methods in different systems, it explores the similarities and differences between management of healthcare and other management contexts and considers the evidence base for different approaches.
***Course is pending approval from CEA CAPA's School of Record.***
