DESCRIPTION
This course explores the external relation of the European Union, its development since as well as external aspects of the main policies. The course also focuses on the role of EU institutions in the field of external relation and their interplay with member states of the EU in conducting external relations. This course studies the external relations of the European Union and familiarizes students with the role of the European Union in international affairs. The course examines different aspects of the involvement of the European Union in the international arena. It looks into the history and the nature of the European Union?s external relations and examines in detail the Common Foreign and Security Policy as well as the Common Security and Defence Policy. The course also analyses the nature and consequences of the external economic relations of the European Union as well as external impact of its most important internal policies such as environment, energy, development, financial regulation and freedom, security and justice. Finally, the course examines the current state of European Union enlargement policy and its relations with eastern and southern neighbours as well as relations with its key international partners.
