DESCRIPTION
This course is designed to give a good basic foundation in French covering vocabulary, grammar, phonetics, reading, conversation and laboratory work. The course is suitable for absolute beginners or for students with some high school French. This course consists of two required components - language (cours pratiques) and phonetics. While these components are listed separately on the student's transcript, students must pass both the language and phonetics components to receive credit for the course. The phonetics component meets for an average of 2.5 hours per week. The language component meets for an average of 10 hours per week. Together, students are in class for an average of 12.5 hours per week.
