DESCRIPTION
This course takes a look at the works of literature from this time period and its relationship to the history of the era. Poetry, novels, and essays are all discussed in order to give students a wide view of the civilization of the time. Themes of the 16th century are presented through the works of Montaigne and Rabelais. The civilization of the 17th century is viewed through Pascal, Racine, Molière and Bossuet.
