DESCRIPTION
In the United States of America business operates within a legal and regulatory system delineated by government and politics. It can, therefore, be in the interest of US business to try to influence government decision-making. The contemporary power and influence of the US in the world, and the nature of international economic activity, mean that the character of American business and society is of global significance. As the United States worldwide power is largely based upon the strong performance of its business corporations, and its economy more generally, it is important for business students to gain an understanding of how business and politics are intertwined in America. This module offers students a wide-ranging introduction to the political and societal context from within which US business exists.
