DESCRIPTION
Communication and Sociology aims at analyzing the complex process of communication in technologically advanced societies, with a special focus on current societies' features and characteristics. A deep and thorough study of complex societies like the Spanish one is done in order to provide the students with the best tools to understand nowadays societies and therefore to situate them in the best position to produce the most effective and persuasive messages. Only by a deep knowledge of how people in complex and advanced societies receive, share and interpret messages can enable students to perform effective ways of communication. This subject provides them with an analytical, fair-minded and critical perspective of media performing and its effects in society. Practical examples will be continuously used and applied in order to prove and show the utility of theoretical concepts. The links and connections between theoretical concepts and practical situations will be also shown with frequent discussions and debates with the students, who will be able to give their opinion and suggestions about how certain communication phenomena might be taking place. This subject will help to prepare and form a potential team of media and communication experts with a critical, ethical and, above all, analytical point of view about how media perform nowadays.
