DESCRIPTION

This course has four main components. The first is to understand historically and systemically global climate change, the basic science involved, and its principal effects. In the second part we examine major ethical issues relating to climate change, especially intergenerational ethics and questions of responsibility. The third part of the course relates to principles of climate justice, such as the polluter pays principle, and the complications these principles involve. In the fourth part we will explore social models that have been proposed as ethical responses to climate change now and in the future.
