DESCRIPTION

The subject 'Typologies of tourist spaces' is a subject that aims to bring students closer to the basics of tourism typologies and the tourist spaces. The main goal is to understand the enormous variety of typologies in the territory.

Students will learn about the different typologies analysed (golf, nautical, nature, skiing, etc.) in order to interpret the complex reality of tourist spaces, identify the socio-economic and territorial impacts and recognise the most interesting models for the tourist development of territories, according to its main features and conditions.

This subject analyses the different typologies of tourist spaces and some associated modalities, with emphasis of those that are not included in other related subjects. The outline of the explanation of contents usually has two different parts: 1) the contents on the conceptual bases and features of the particular tourist modality analysed and 2) the typologies or facilities arising around a basic tourist resource, which determines the existence of a specific tourist practice (golf, sailing, culture, snow?). Some units also analyse the territorial impacts linked to a specific tourist typology.'

The subject is linked to other geographically based subjects of the syllabus in the Degree of Tourism, like 'Introduction of Geography of Tourism', 'Tourism activities in rural areas', and 'Tourism and territorial practices in local development'.
