DESCRIPTION
This module is composed of two parts, as follows:
1. Financial accounting: This section starts by reviewing basic concepts of Financial accounting (as seen in year 1): the principles and concepts used to prepare the basic financial statements (balance sheet and income statement). It then covers more advanced financial accounting concepts: the cash flow statement, accruals and deferrals, inventory valuation methodologies.
2. Product costing and managerial accounting: This section of the course introduces the fundamentals of product costing, an introduction to cost behaviour, and costing systems and analysis.
Pedagogy will consist of lectures on the key concepts followed by practical exercises to apply these concepts.
