DESCRIPTION

This course introduces non-technology-oriented students to client side web technologies. The course is strictly designed for those students who are not computer programmers, but still have a desire (or need) to participate in the internet wave as either content providers or facilitators of such systems. During this course, students will understand what HTML is, learn its elements and how to add extra information to them and formulate commands in a more explicit manner. Students can discover how to create links to their own and other pages on the Internet, how to construct HTML tables for the presentation of structured content and also understand how Cascading Style Sheets can be used to add design and layout to webpages. The course provides excercises on how web projects can be designed using Visual Studio. Besides the common standard of HTML and how to check if the coding is correct, students will understand more about HTML5 basics and HTML5 tags and attributes as well. Students will get familiar with the basic syntax of CSS and how different CSS attributes are applied in HTML files, also will have a closer look at the use of class and id to specify properties for selected elements and also at the use of span and div as exactly these two HTML elements are of central importance with regards to CSS. The box model is also explained and used as CSS describes the boxes which are being generated for HTML elements and used to create a transparent structure to HTML websites. The course also covers multiple CSS3 elements, short Javascript codes and jQuery plugins as well.
