DESCRIPTION
Scriptwriting for Fiction and Documentary is designed to investigate the essential methodology involved in scriptwriting, for both fiction and factual programs. It will explore the concept of narrative and narrative strategies in the film text, as well as addressing the key components of a script for a short film (setting, plot, structure, characters, dialogue). The unit will also theoretically contextualize the specificity of a documentary film text and will guide students to produce a documentary treatment and a shooting/production script. Film viewings will be employed to illustrate aesthetic conventions and codes of the cinematic text.
