DESCRIPTION

The module focuses on creative writing and its relationship to public space. In this module students are required to engage with forms of creative writing, notably poetry, that is either performed or displayed in public spaces. This involves visits either to galleries, museums and other venues which host poetry events or which exhibit poetry or creative writing. These visits should enable students to think about the contexts that might suit the production of their own creative writing and the relationship between the spoken/written word and public spaces. Students are also required to be familiar with theories of space, location and performance and in addition to demonstrate familiarity with a wide selection of performed creative writing.
