DESCRIPTION
Through the study of a significant number of songs, articles, and documentary and film material, this course will explore the importance of ancient song in our society. We will pay special attention to the poetic language of the lyrics, we will provide the student with basic tools to deal with this rich material and we will analyze the links between the song and the society that is, at the same time, its origin and its destiny. Our exploration will be built from the understanding of the song as a cultural object and vehicle of culture, a fundamental part of our sentimental memory and a privileged support to access the knowledge of a society.
