DESCRIPTION

As the course progresses at least six titles will be read (a selection of dramatic and poetic texts, as well as short stories), the titles of which will be indicated during the first week of classes.

1. Literary Myths: General Considerations. The Exploration of Thematics and Comparative Literature. Characteristic Features in the case of Spanish Literature.
2. Mythic Figures in Spanish Literature of the Golden Age: Don Quixote; Don Juan; the Procuress, Celestina.
3. Spain: A Nation of Rogues - The Picaresque Novel, from Lazarrillo to the Life of Torres Villarroel.
4. The Evolution of the Myth of Don Juan in Modern Times: from Zorrilla to Unamuno.
5. Andalucía's Mythology: Gypsies and Bandits.
6. Andalucía the Exotic: the Myth of Carmen.
