DESCRIPTION
This course is designed to explore Spain's culture as it has been influenced by its diversity. Topics covered will include national culture, ethnocentrism and the differences between the urban and rural populations; an analysis of cultural areas, Spain's social structure, the Church in Spain, popular fiestas, gender issues, folklore and Spain's relationship with the rest of Europe. The class will combine class discussion with lectures. Students will also write their personal analysis on bibliographic texts used in class.
