DESCRIPTION

The aim of this course is to encourage students who have previous knowledge of Spanish and Englist to consider both of these languages in depth. Although, strictly speaking, grammar would not include a consideration of matters related to phonetics, orthography, and lexis, this course is also intended to help students improve in these areas, thereby leading to an awareness of how these topics impinge upon grammar and morphosyntax as such. This course will not only ensure a practical command of Spanish grammar, but it will also emphasize the acquisition of a greater degree of dexterity and confidence in dealing with the transition between the morphosyntactic structures operating in both languages, not only from the perspective of production, but also from that of choice concerning options. It is in this way that students will be given the opportunity to improve their professional skills as future teachers in their home country. In short, the aim of this course is to enrich students' vision of what is specific to each of these languages, and of what they both have in common. Strictly speaking, the term "Comparison Between Grammars" would be better applied here, rather than that of "Contrastive Grammar", since it is not only the exploration of contrasts that will be undertaken.
