DESCRIPTION

The objective of this course is to introduce the student to the classic Arab-Islamic culture through a panoramic exposition of its religious, social, cultural and economic parameters. Past and present Arabic influences will be analyzed to gain a better understanding of Spanish literature. Subjects that will be covered: the Arabic and Islamic worlds, Islam as a religion, the culture of Andalusia, mysticism, El Quijote, and the study of Mio Cid.
