HOW DID YOU ENGAGE WITH THE LOCAL COMMUNITY WHILE ABROAD?
I engaged with the local community while abroad by going to the mall and participating in the celebration of a win for the nation's soccer team. I was also given the opportunity to volunteer with a group of young people and hear their stories about Costa Rica. Lastly, I actively engaged with my host family. I learned their customs, ways of life, and cooking styles.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE CLASS WHILE ABROAD, AND WHY?
My favorite class abroad was Medical Spanish. As an aspiring physician, it is important to me that I develop a global mindset when it comes to healthcare, which means expanding the languages that I know. This class allowed me to become more comfortable in administering care to an individual in Spanish.
