WHAT'S ONE STORY OR IMPORTANT ASPECT YOU ALWAYS TELL PEOPLE ABOUT YOUR TIME ABROAD?
The connectedness of the city of Barcelona was the most substantial aspect of my time studying in Spain and what I miss so dearly. The reliability and ease of public transportation, both through Barcelona and its connections to so many other areas in Spain and throughout Europe, made traveling and exploring so simple.
HOW DID YOU ENGAGE WITH THE LOCAL COMMUNITY WHILE ABROAD?
Rather than solely visiting chain restaurants and retail shops in Barcelona, I frequented small businesses in my residential neighborhood and thrift/vintage clothing stores as a means of shopping sustainably and favoring a more intimate shopping experience. The CEA CAPA study center was in the midst of a tourist center, but going the extra steps to escape this area between classes for smaller, more local coffee shops allowed for language learning opportunities and a more rewarding journey of finding my favorite Barcelona spots.
