Marie has worked in international education for over eight years and has a background in facilitating service-learning in intercultural settings and creating ethical programs, and is passionate about providing study abroad opportunities for first-gen students from diverse backgrounds. Marie has dedicated most of her career to coordinating immersive programs throughout Latin America. Her spark for experiential education began when she went abroad to Paraguay, where she learned Guarani and drank mate with her host family. She received her BA in Spanish from the University of Hawai’i and her MA in International Education Management from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies. Marie was also a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Dominican Republic and has worked abroad at several study abroad offices and international organizations, most recently in the DR as a Study Abroad Program Coordinator. In her downtime, you can catch Marie reading novels, listening to podcasts, playing cards, exploring the Bay Area, and dancing to bachata oldies.
