HOW DID YOU ENGAGE WITH THE LOCAL COMMUNITY WHILE ABROAD?
My favorite class abroad was called Negotiations. Over the semester, we learned about and roleplayed scenarios involving effective listening, lie detection, pitching clients, etc. I enjoyed this class because it was interactive and allowed us to participate in live scenarios. We learned how to negotiate in job interviews, dating, legal proceedings, at home, etc.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE CLASS WHILE ABROAD, AND WHY?
I loved all of the classes I took with CEA CAPA. However, the aspect of my semester abroad that had the most impact on me was my internship. I worked at a small immigration law firm in Sevilla, which was perfect for me because I wanted to improve my Spanish skills and I plan to go to law school. Some of my tasks included interacting with clients, scheduling appointments with the immigration office of Sevilla, filling out various legal documents for clients regarding Spanish residency and citizenship, and researching the immigration process in Spain. My internship was very hands on, which allowed me to grow as a professional, as a Spanish speaker, and as a person overall.
