Why did you choose to study or intern abroad?
I chose to study abroad because it was an opportunity that no one in my family had the privilege of receiving and my parents instilled the importance of traveling since I was young. My family is so proud of me for taking on this adventure and I loved the idea that could get to live vicariously through me. I chose Barcelona because I've always wanted to improve my Spanish and every person who had been told me it would be perfect for me. Fun fact, when I was deciding on where to go, my dad got me sunflower seeds and the brand happened to be called Barcelona.
WhAT IS ONE NEW EXPERIENCE YOU'RE HOPING TO HAVE WHILE ABROAD?
I'm hoping to be able to do a language exchange with someone from a local Spanish school and gain some more confidence with my Spanish. I think being able to learn another language and have that resource available is going to be such a valuable experience that I can't pass up.
What CLASS ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO TAKING while ABROAD?
I'm really excited to take my Food & Culture in Spain class because I feel like it's not something I would take back at my home university. I'm also such a picky eater that I wanted to be able to challenge myself and explore other foods and this class allows you to do so with doing things like olive oil tasting or taking a tapas cooking class.
WHAT IS SOMETHING you're passionate and excited about?
I'm a summer camp counselor and ropes facilitator at the camp that I've been going to since I was eight years old. It's my favorite place on earth and I love being able to give back to it by creating magic for the campers just as my old counselors used to do for me. I get to be challenged in the best of ways and get to make some of my best memories with people from all over the world.
