WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE CLASS WHILE ABROAD, AND WHY?
My favorite class I took abroad was by far my "Spanish Civilization and Culture" class that I took with CEA. It combined history, education, politics, sociology, and theology to analyze and explain the practices that have existed across Spanish society over time. It was very discussion-based, and the class could really go in any direction we wanted on a given day because we could ask questions related to our interest areas. It also greatly increased my Spanish vocabulary, since we discussed very common, yet very specialized practices involved in family organization, cultural celebrations, and the education system of Spain.
WHAT'S ONE STORY OR IMPORTANT ASPECT YOU ALWAYS TELL PEOPLE ABOUT YOUR TIME ABROAD?
I always love telling people about my experience living with my host mom. She is this little old Spanish lady who speaks almost no English, and she was so kind and supportive during my entire semester. Originally, I was going to have a housemate with the program, but she dropped out a month or so before the program started, and it ended up being just me and my host mom in the apartment. She cared for me like I was a family member and living just her and I was the single most important factor in improving and solidifying my proficiency in Spanish.
